Serve First: Meet Customers Where They Are

It’s easy to forget that we’re here to serve our customers and not the other way around.

It’s not their job to be pleasant. It’s our job to take care of them with incredible service and hospitality because you never know what just happened when you approach that customer for the first time.

Whether you’re greeting guests at the front entrance, working in ticketing, serving tables, tending bar, or welcoming patients at a doctor’s office, we all show up to interactions carrying our own stories.

It’s not our job to figure that out.

Our job is to meet people where they are in that moment.

Having a little empathy and approaching each interaction with an open heart is a great place to start.

You don’t have to solve every problem. But you do have to show up for people in the way they need, right then and there.

Sometimes it's as simple as saying: “welcome” and “thank you.”

You got this.
